How do we calculate our charges?

Our charges for the delivery of groceries are based on a percentage of the value of the shopping we are delivering. There are two basic rates depending on your drop point location - either 20%  or 25% of the total cost of your shopping, plus VAT.

Regular Customer discount

However, customers on our regular weekly routes can benefit from a 5% reduction on these rates, making either 15% or 20% of the total cost of their shopping, plus VAT, depending on their drop point location. Customers qualify for a Regular Customer discount after their third consecutive order, provided they continue to order at least once per month.

For example, if you are a regular customer at a 20% drop point and spend £100 on your shopping, then we would charge you 20% minus the 5% Regular Customer discount, making it 15% of the total cost of your shopping. So, our charge would be £15 plus VAT @ 20% (£3), which is £18 in total for your delivery.

Minimum charge

Please do note that a minimum charge applies on all grocery deliveries. This is equivalent to the charge on £100 worth of shopping. So, depending on your drop point location and your regular customer status, our minimum charge will be £15, £20 or £25, all plus VAT.

Payment

Payment is required on delivery and can be made by either cash or cheque. We do not currently accept  credit or debit cards. On-line payment can be accepted, by prior arrangement only.

You can pay us in either Sterling or Euro, but please note that we calculate our charges based upon exchanging Sterling with Euro, typically 10-15 centimes different from exchanging Euro with Sterling.

Finally

Do remember that most supermarkets offer promotional savings that can easily offset our delivery charge, so look for their deals online now!

Non-food deliveries

If your needs are for delivery of non-food items - furniture, beds, fitted kitchens, bathroom suites, domestic appliances, floor coverings, car parts, tyres, eBay purchases and all other parcels, packages and the like - please email thesterlinggirls@yahoo.co.uk for a quote.

Paint, stains & varnishes

Depot to drop point: £1.20 per litre plus VAT

Personal shop: £15.00 plus VAT
Many DIY shops will not deliver paint etc., so please email thesterlinggirls@yahoo.co.uk with your requirements, including product code and quantity, and one of our personal shoppers will get it for you.
